Where the knowledge lives
five notesWhen a business runs on memory kept in one person or one unshared place, that concentration is where it is most fragile. The arrangement feels efficient right up until the person is unavailable, and everything they were quietly carrying stops with them.
The same work, again
five notesWork rebuilt from scratch each cycle is a specification in disguise. The repetition has already done the design: the structure is known, the sources are known, and what remains for a person is the part that actually varies.
The operation underneath
six notesThe calendar, the org chart, the schedule, and the vendor list describe one company. The operation underneath runs on people, throughput, and sources the paperwork never records, and when the two disagree, the operation wins.
The safeguard nobody tested
seven notesA fallback, a quarantine, a backup, an intake category, a first guess: any of them can be held by assumption instead of verification. The safeguards that hold are the ones arranged and exercised before they were needed.
Nothing failed loudly
five notesNo fire, no scandal, no single day when it broke. Fragility accumulates through ordinary, survivable events: a resignation, a workaround, a folder nobody cleans out, until one more small subtraction is enough.
